Advanced manufacturing workers are in high demand across the state and there's a growing need for credentialed workers in the sector. One manufacturing company plans to address this shortage through a summer camp for middle school students.

It was part of BP's effort to make "blue" hydrogen — which is made using energy from fossil fuels, but includes carbon storage. BP is one of several companies that committed to grow clean hydrogen in the region as part of the Midwest Alliance for Clean Hydrogen or MachH2.

More than four dozen state employees in education and commerce agencies were laid off this week, while an additional 80 positions will go unfilled.
