The Indiana State Board of Education met on Wednesday to continue working on an overhaul of the states high school curriculum and diploma requirements.

School districts and community organizations are receiving the grants to help students apply for financial aid.

The resignation comes as the HSE community splinters around divisive politics that emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A recent study from the National Council on Teacher Quality suggests Indiana could do more to attract and retain a diverse teacher workforce. However, some state legislators said hiring and retaining diverse teachers has not been a high priority for the state.

“Let students understand the mechanism and the principal of AI, and then they can use the AI technology more responsibly," says an Indiana University professor.

For seven years, the school has received support from Communities in Schools (or CIS), a national nonprofit that brings community resources into schools through school site coordinators. As Lawrence Township schools recover from the pandemic, the assistance Richardson coordinates as the CIS liaison has come in many forms.

Fentanyl was involved in the vast majority of all teen overdose deaths – 84% – in 2021, and the problem has been growing. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, fentanyl-related adolescent overdose deaths nearly tripled from 2019 to 2021. And nearly a quarter of those deaths involved counterfeit pills that weren't prescribed by a doctor.
