An online petition has been started asking trustees to reverse the decision and remove Schnatter's name from the university's John H. Schnatter Institute for Entrepreneurship and Free Enterprise.

Ball State University's trustees chairman said Friday it accepted John Schnatter's apology and will continue its support of the John H. Schnatter Institute for Entrepreneurship and Free Enterprise.

For students applying to Ball State University for the fall of 2019 and beyond, submitting scores from the SAT or ACT will be optional.

Ball State first started accepting student registrations on June 17, 1918. The university will hold a centennial party Friday for faculty, staff and students.
