A portion of Camp Atterbury will soon be home to a proving and testing ground for new technologies that could be useful to both civilians and the military — largely those involving autonomous vehicles.

Officials continue to investigate the cause of the loud “boom” that surprised many Hoosiers throughout south central Indiana earlier this week. 

Mohammad Zaki Ahmadi recited the oath of enlistment and signed his paperwork for a three-year commitment to the Guard during a March 3 ceremony at the Indianapolis Military Entry Processing Station in Lawrence.

Atterbury housed more than 7,200 evacuees that have found permanent homes in 45 different states.

The U.S. government has been using Camp Atterbury to temporarily house, process and resettle nearly 7,000 people who fled Afghanistan after the Taliban took over at the end of August. About 2,500 Afghan evacuees were still waiting to be settled as of Friday morning.

Team Rubicon is asking for donations of winter boots and shoes heading into the holiday season.
