Valor Classical Academy initially planned to locate in Hamilton County but lost a lawsuit to claim a building in Carmel. Now, leaders are considering opening in Northwest Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Public Schools did not violate a controversial state law that requires school districts to offer unused classroom buildings to charter schools for $1, the state attorney general’s office concluded on Tuesday.

The seven-member IPS board of commissioners is set to vote at a 10 a.m. public meeting Saturday at the Madam Walker Legacy Center on whether to place a $413.6 million operating tax referendum on the May 2 primary ballot. The money goes mostly to boost pay for district teachers.

It’s uncertain when the district will discuss the property-tax referendum again and if the district will agree to share funds with charter schools.
