Republican state Rep. Woody Burton of Whiteland says he wont seek reelection next year but will complete his term with the 2020 legislative session.

Seattle-based Amazon this week officially opened the so-called fulfilment center after last year signing a lease in Greenwood.

The company has said it planned to invest $45 million in property improvements and $35 million in equipment, and could bring about 1,250 jobs to the area in the coming years.

Indiana State Police and the City of Greenwood broke ground Monday on a new hangar that will house the agencys aviation fleet and other special operations at Indy South Greenwood Airport.

The company is investing $33 million in its Columbus plant to build a new electric powertrain. It also plans to build a new $35 million facility in Greenwood.

The Greenwood Redevelopment Commission awarded a $1.7 million contract Tuesday to demolish most of the former Greenwood Middle School.

The Johnson County prosecutor's office says the charges are in addition to the 18 people charged in early July, bringing the total now to 45 individuals facing charges stemming from the brawl.

The project in the city just south of Indianapolis would have included two ice rinks, five basketball courts, a fitness and training facility.

The project includes raised decorative center medians, new traffic signals, 65 trees, enhanced lighting and a multiuse trail.
