Indy Go and the Indianapolis Department of Metropolitan Development announce plans for a new bus driver training center on a long abandoned site.

The Municipal Corporations Committee of the Indianapolis City-County Council heard from IndyGo about the planned Purple Line. The line is the second of two more planned rapid transit lines for Indianapolis.

IndyGo will overhaul its route system, apart from the new and planned rapid transit lines. The public has a chance to weigh in on this first major change in decades.

The free fare period will extend through Nov. 30 because delays with the new MyKey system made it necessary to put a temporary fare collection system in place.

IndyGo's Red Line buses will now take passengers to 96th Street on the citys north side and to Greenwood Park Mall on the south side.

South Bend and St. Joseph County officials reached an agreement this past week for splitting $18 million for the project's local contribution.

IndyGo worked with bus maker, BYD, to find a solution for charging the electric buses that were not traveling as far as promised. Buses will be charged using wireless technology during the day to solve the issue.

IndyGo took input last night from business owners worried about traffic for their businesses ahead of Blue Line construction.

Red Line construction begins along Meridian Street this week, while work along Shelby Street and the first station continues.

The program, providing fare-free access to IndyGo's fixed route service, has been two years in the making.
