Discussion on a sex education bill in the House shifted unexpectedly to school shooter response training in schools.

Lawmakers in the House have amended a piece of legislation from the Senate that focuses on sex education and parental consent.

Opponents of the bill say it is inconsistent next to this session's anti-bullying legislation. They say this bill would ignore LGBTQ issues.

The new bill would require every parent to sign and return a permission slip.

Indiana does not include contraception as part of it's sexual education but does require schools to teach abstinence.

Teen pregnancy rates have dropped nationally, but in the small town of Frankfort, Indiana it's still a real risk. Teen pregnancy rates in Clinton County are three times the national average.
