Voters kept their current mayors in office in Fort Wayne, South Bend and Terre Haute, where the older brother of NBA Hall of Famer Larry Bird narrowly lost to two-term Republican Mayor Duke Bennett.

Terre Haute native Abe Silverstein was inducted Friday into the Dayton, Ohio-based hall of fame.

Council members voted 7-0 Thursday to extend protections that prohibit discrimination in employment, housing, public accommodations and other areas.
