A 10-year-old transgender girl's lawsuit to allow her to keep playing softball in an Indianapolis school district has won a preliminary injunction from a federal court. But the scope of the injunction issued Tuesday is up for debate.

Gov. Eric Holcomb said Tuesday's vote to overturn his veto of a ban on transgender girls from girls school sports doesn't solve a real problem in Indiana.

Lawmakers voted Tuesday to override the governor's veto of a bill to ban transgender girls from girls school sports. The ACLU of Indiana has already filed a lawsuit against the bill.

The Indiana High School Athletic Association on Wednesday commended Republican Gov. Eric Holcomb's veto of a bill banning transgender females from participating in girls school sports after the association previously held back from taking an explicit stance on the proposal.

People opposed to the bill praised the governor's decision, but state and federal Republican lawmakers are still pushing the issue.
