Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill recommended no criminal charges or licensing actions Wednesday after concluding an investigation into more than 2,000 sets of fetal remains found last year at the suburban Chicago garage of a late abortion doctor.

The more than 2,400 fetal remains that were found in the garage of a doctor who performed abortions in Indiana were buried Wednesday.

The 2,411 sets of fetal remains that resulted from abortions Dr. Ulrich Klopfer performed in Indiana will be memorialized Wednesday at a graveside service in South Bend.

The new discovery brought the total number of sets of fetal remains discovered at properties connected to Dr. Ulrich Klopfer to 2,411.

The Indiana attorney general's office announced Wednesday additional fetal remains were found on properties owned by the late Dr. Ulrich Klopfer.

Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill said the remains were moved to Indiana because the St. Joseph County coroner was the first to step forward with the capacity for the investigation.

Police say Ulrich Klopfers family discovered fetal remains on his Illinois property last week. Hill says the initial investigation revealed all 2,246 remains are from Klopfers Indiana clinics, from between 2000 and 2002.

Law enforcement officers from multiple agencies are searching the two properties in St. Joseph County in the Ulrich Klopfer investigation.

Republican Attorney General Curtis Hill said he and Democratic Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul have "agreed to work together" on an investigation of the remains found at the home of Dr. Ulrich Klopfer, who died Sept. 3.

Ulrich Klopfer performed abortions at clinics in Indiana for years, but his license was suspended in 2016.
