The Friday Pitch-In
October 09, 2020
Cases of COVID-19 have increased to more than 131,000, with 1,832 new cases confirmed Friday. And the ruling last week about the mail-in ballot deadline has been halted by a different judge. Today we get updates on these stories and more.
We learn about turnover issues in Indiana's prison system caused by COVID-19 and staff culture, by looking at the Indiana Women's Prison. Read more on this from Side Effects Public Media reporter Jake Harper: https://www.sideeffectspublicmedia.org/post/former-staff-say-turnover-indiana-women-s-prison-self-inflicted
We also hear about how the COVID-19 pandemic has made it more difficult for caregivers to visit their loved ones in long-term care facilities around the state. More on this story here: https://indianapublicmedia.org/news/it-is-abuse-indiana-caregivers-say-nursing-home-visitation-policies-dont-put-residents-first.php
And a new art exhibit in Columbus is open to the public, displaying art inspired by Southern Indiana. We talk with the curator and two of the artists featured in the exhibit. Learn more about it here: https://www.paperpavilions.com/
