INDIANAPOLIS – Department of Public Safety Director Troy Riggs announced today that Deputy Director Valerie Washington has accepted a position as assistant city manager for the City of Fort Worth, Texas.  She will begin her new role in September.

Riggs said Washington’s departure will be a loss to the city as a whole, but also to those who work alongside her daily.

“Valerie Washington has been invaluable in her service to the City of Indianapolis as Deputy Director of Public Safety,” Riggs said. “Her expertise and experience runs deep – not only within public safety – but across city divisions whose service to residents depends on critical and appropriate allocation of funds.”

Washington has several years of experience with the City of Indianapolis. She assumed her current role with DPS as Deputy Director and CFO in June 2012.
