Drug Take Back Event To Reach Hoosiers

Drug Take Back Event To Reach Hoosiers

The four-day “Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet” program starts on Friday, March 14 and runs through Monday, March 17 at Marsh pharmacies across the state.

The Indiana Professional Licensing Agency helped organize the event so people can get rid of potentially dangerous medicines that can sometimes be abused.

"You've seen the commercials about taking the wrong pharmaceuticals when they're not prescribed to you," says Sue Swayze with the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency.

Another reason for hosting the event is to keep those medicines from entering the water supply when people dispose of them improperly.

The agency works with companies like Marsh to help inform the public about the importance of issues that affect the health of Hoosiers.

The pharmacies will not be accepting controlled substances, only over the counter drugs or legend drugs.
