Courtesy of the Office of Career Connections and TalentThe Indiana Career Connections and Talent secretary will step down from her role on June 7. It comes just months after her department was absorbed several months ago by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.
Blair Milo is the state’s first – and so far, only – Career Connections and Talent secretary. Gov. Eric Holcomb appointed her to the newly created role in 2017, for which she resigned in the middle of her second term as mayor of LaPorte.
Milo spearheaded the 21st Century Talent Region program, designed to help public and private agencies align their goals around workforce development. The 12 designated regions focused on metrics like population growth and getting more students to get some career education after high school.
Milo is resigning to launch a private program called the Center for Talent and Opportunity to help women and other underrepresented groups become entrepreneurs.
The governor’s office has not decided if it will nominate a new person to the role, or eliminate it entirely.
