The Indianapolis Office of Public Health and Safety has hired a new Director of Reentry.

Carlette Duffy has worked as a project manager with the office since 2016 and focused on providing people with services connected to reentry.  Duffy says these people are not a monolithic group.

"We have people from all different walks of life, all different places in the community and they all need different services," says Duffy.

These could include food, education and housing.

"That’s one I dealt with, even with an income. You apply for housing and because you have that felony they’re like we don’t accept felons," says Duffy.

Duffy who was able to have her record expunged, says she will continue work to expand those services.  She says she will also prioritize training and employment opportunities for people.
