Outside magazine is looking to crown the “Best Town Ever,” and Indianapolis is in the running.

Indy is an eighth seed in the Midwest Region of the magazine’s 64-town bracket. The Circle City is up against ninth seed Spearfish, South Dakota. With just over 11,000 residents, the competition is described as "a quiet town with an adventurous streak."

The contest includes towns and cities of all sizes. While building the bracket, the magazine said it considered more than just the great outdoors.

"We looked for places with great access to trails and public lands, thriving restaurants and neighborhoods, and, of course, a good beer scene."

The winners and losers are determined by the public. You can vote here, once per round per matchup.

First round voting is open until May 8. The winners will advance until only two towns remain on May 29. The “Best Town Ever” will be announced June 5.
