New Health Partnership At City Way

Franciscan St Francis will move into a building right next door to a new YMCA in the City Way development.

Franciscan St Francis will move into a building right next door to a new YMCA in the City Way development.

A new collaborative effort will bring two health focused organizations together in a growing urban neighborhood.

The $155 million downtown development called City Way is already home to a handful of unique restaurants, a boutique hotel and a modern apartment complex.  Plans for a new state of the art YMCA have been in the works since the project was first announced, and now Franciscan St. Francis Heath will be moving in.

Franciscan St. Francis will lease 13,000 square feet in a building right next door to the new YMCA. Franciscan Regional CFO, Keith Lauter, the move enables the organizations to work together with a focus on preventative health care.

"As individuals we all have a desire to not just be healed or fixed when we break," said Lauter. "We like to be helped in staying healthy and that’s what this is all about."

The health center will offer primary and specialty care, imaging, labs and therapy programs.  The YMCA facility will feature two indoor pools, three gyms, an elevated track and a culinary studio.

Eric Ellsworth, president and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis says the partnership provides a one-stop shop for health care in the area.

"When people are doing physical therapy at the Franciscan facility they'll have an open door into the YMCA's health and wellness facilities," Ellsworth said.

Eli Lilly has supported much of the development that connects with its downtown corporate campus.

The YMCA is slated to be completed late next year and Franciscan St. Francis Health hopes to open in early 2016.
