One person was killed and two others injured early Sunday morning in a shooting on the south side.

Police responded to reports of a person shot in the 2900 block of Madison Avenue just after 12 a.m. When officers arrived, they found what they believe to be an adult male in the parking lot with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound or wounds.

The victim was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, but they were pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said positive identification of the victim had not been determined as of Sunday afternoon.

During the investigation, IMPD homicide detectives learned there were two walk-in victims who arrived at Eskenazi Hospital just after 1 a.m. One victim was suffering from injuries consistent with a gunshot wound, the seconded victim was suffering from "a nonpenetrating gunshot wound(s)."

Investigators believe these cases are related. IMPD said Sunday afternoon that detectives detained and interviewed several individuals, but no arrests had been made.
