Carmel-based CNO Financial Group announced last year it wasn't renewing the naming-rights contract that it held since the arena opened as Conseco Fieldhouse in 1999.

City officials in Indianapolis are signing off on a deal for nearly $300 million in public subsidies toward renovation of the Indiana Pacers' downtown arena.

Gov. Eric Holcomb's office says he signed the bill Monday setting up financing plans for renovation of the Indiana Pacers' arena and construction of a new soccer stadium.

The bill will give the Capital Improvement Board millions of dollars to revamp Bankers Life Fieldhouse, where the Indiana Pacers play, and help build a proposed Indy Eleven soccer stadium.

The deal calls for the Pacers to pay $65 million toward the renovations, which will feature construction of a year-round outdoor plaza in place of an existing parking garage next to the arena.

The deal includes no new taxes or fees, which Indianapolis officials say was a priority for the city.
