POSITION DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Video Producer and Editor
CLASSIFICATION: Full-time, Exempt, Salaried
DEPARTMENT: Production
LOCATION: Indianapolis, IN
The Video Producer and Editor will be responsible for creating compelling digital and on-air content to attract, inform and engage new and returning audiences. This position will work alongside production, news, radio, marketing, development, and partners with departments across WFYI. The Video Producer and Editor will work from pre-production to completion, creating multiple outputs to distribute on a variety of channels including social media, streaming applications, and traditional radio and television broadcasts. This role will ensure that content is created and published in a strategic manner to best suit both the platform and the audience. The position may also be asked to assist on other productions as needed, both in the studio and in the field.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Generate story ideas and create local original content for digital series, shows, programs, podcasts and other platforms
- Write, shoot, edit, and publish video and digital content across multiple distribution platforms
- Coordinate and execute end-to-end production processes to ensure the successful creation of content. This may include conducting thorough research, writing scripts, booking guests, scheduling shoots, taking behind-the-scenes photos and videos, updating social media accounts, etc.
- Work collaboratively with other departments and teams to produce engaging, effective content and assist with the visual execution of radio, television, news, and digital efforts
- Tell compelling stories through video in a way that is factual, engaging, and audience-focused
- Make regular appearances across public media platforms, including live broadcasts, social media, podcasts, and community events
- Edit in a variety of formats including digital episodes, vertical videos, gifs, teasers, promos and sizzle reels
- Create motion graphics for projects in the video department and content division
- Ensure that content adheres to public media standards
- Collaborate across departments to ensure all content remains on brand and on message
- Incorporate written and verbal feedback throughout the production process
- Use data and feedback to adjust production and distribution methods
- Accommodate a flexible work schedule (some evenings, weekends, and holiday work may be required)
- Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience unless otherwise noted below.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Production, Journalism, Communications or related field
- 3+ years’ professional video production and video editing experience
- Digital portfolio or samples of previous work
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Required:
- Excellent computer skills: Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Premiere, After Effects, Audition, Mac and PC operating systems
- Ability to create motion graphics
- Creative mindset with the ability to work in partnership with others
- Professional and punctual attitude, always meets deadlines and is respectful of colleagues
- Demonstrated ability to work and solve problems quickly and independently with little supervision
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines under time constraints
- Demonstrated ability to excel in a collaborative team environment with a high level of personal motivation
- Proven ability to work simultaneously on short and long-term projects
Preferred:
- Previous experience working in public media
- Multi-camera studio directing experience
