About the Event

Through effective policy and banning of lead in most products over the last several decades, childhood blood lead levels have decreased drastically across the U.S. and Indiana. However, many children are still exposed to harmful levels of lead. Even minor lead exposure in childhood can have long-term consequences, such as diminished IQ and impulse control. Join us August 24, 6 p.m., at IndyPL Central Library for this presentation that considers the state of childhood blood lead levels in Marion County.

We will dive more deeply into childhood lead exposure in Marion County, its impacts, and what can be done, with a particular focus on the neighborhoods of Martindale Brightwood and the Near Eastside. Many thanks to Marion County Public Health Department for assisting with data.

The event is a collaboration with The Indianapolis Public Library, WFYI Public Media, and SAVI, and aims to spark data informed community conversations, after hours, over beer.

Entry is free but registration is required. Parking in the garage below the library is $5 per vehicle.
