The Telling of The Pie Contest

In partnership with Broadway in Indianapolis and Sun King Brewery, WFYI is launching a WAITRESS-inspired pie contest to the home bakers of Indianapolis. Inspired by Adrienne Shelly's beloved film, the Broadway musical WAITRESS tells the story of Jenna - a waitress and expert pie maker, Jenna dreams of a way out of her small town and loveless marriage. A baking contest in a nearby county and the town's new doctor may offer her a chance at a fresh start, while her fellow waitresses offer their own recipes for happiness. But Jenna must summon the strength and courage to rebuild her own life.

Entering the Telling of the Pie Contest is easy as…well, PIE!

• Tell us the name of your pie
• Submit a photo or two: One of your pie (required)… and an optional picture related to the story behind the pie (it could be a picture of you or your grandma or your son cooking it in the kitchen…or over the campfire)
• Include the story of your pie (max 500 words) – tell us why the recipe is meaningful to you…a funny anecdote, memory or even a crushing defeat in pie making. We want to hear it all! 

Submissions must be received before 11:59 pm on March 14 through the link below. Judges will review the submissions and 6 finalists will be notified by March 22 via email that they have made it to round 2.

Round 2 will be held on April 18, 2019 at Sun King Brewery Downtown, the 6 finalists will compete in a pie tasting contests and will be asked to share the story of their pie. A grand prize winner will be announced at the public event. A new beer will be unveiled to celebrate the opening of WAITRESS in Indianapolis.
