Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett and his wife Stephanie are getting divorced. Stephanie Hogsett filed documents earlier this month in Johnson County.

In a statement, Mayor Hogsett said the last few years have been trying in unimaginable ways.

“The demands of life in public service have been felt not only by Steph and me, but by every member of our family,” he said.

Hogsett is running for a third term as Mayor of Indianapolis against Republican Jefferson Shreve.

The Hogsetts have been married for over a decade.

“Our focus will remain on supporting our three children, and for their sake we would simply request privacy and respect during these extraordinarily difficult times,” Hogsett said in the statement.

A hearing is on the docket for Oct. 19. Election Day is Nov. 7.
