Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department commanders will host a series of virtual community meetings in February.

Last year in Indianapolis saw a spike in violent crime with criminal homicides and non-fatal shootings up 40 percent.

IMPD and Mayor Joe Hogsett have long emphasized the need to engage and include more communities in discussions of public safety. Officials recently addressed the increase in violent crime and said they will continue to focus on the root causes of violence and reaching those most at risk.

The virtual meetings are scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in February. One is planned for each of IMPD’s six district headquarters. Links to participate are posted on the districts’ social media pages

Feb. 2: Downtown District
Feb. 4: Northwest District
Feb. 9: East District
Feb. 11: Southwest District
Feb. 16: Southeast District
Feb. 18: North District
