The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says a pregnant woman was killed after an officer struck her with his vehicle Wednesday night.  Officer Jonathon Henderson was reporting to work Wednesday night, entering I-465 from Harding Street.  He struck the woman who has been identified as 23 year old Ashlynn Lisby.

IMPD Officer Chris Bailey says it appears some street lights were out in the area.

"That's unfortunate and wearing dark clothes, obvioulsy we want folks to stay on the sidewalks," says Bailey.

Henderson is a 22-year veteran of the force. IMPD says he immediately started first aid. Lisby was transported to Eskenazi Hospital where she and her unborn baby were pronounced dead.

Henderson recieved a blood draw to determine if substances were involved in the accident. The investigation is ongoing.
