The Tuesday night address will mark the first time the Republican has spoken before a joint audience of both the Indiana Senate and House.

Republican legislative leaders say Gov. Mike Pence was clear in his State of the State about the necessity of protecting religious freedom when it comes to the debate over LGBT rights. Democratic leaders say Pence failed to provide any leadership.

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence says he won't support adding state civil rights protections based on sexual orientation or gender identity if he believes that step would diminish religious freedoms.

Even while Gov. Mike Pence was still hours away from delivering his fourth State of the State address, the campaign for his Democratic rival John Gregg was attacking.

Pence has previously hinted Hoosiers would know his stance on LGBT civil rights protections early this year.

Last year was challenging for Gov. Mike Pence after a number of his policy positions put the state in an unwanted spotlight.
