Gov. Eric Holcomb says the Indiana State Police and National Guard are ready to deploy to any community around the state that requests assistance.

Over the weekend, hundreds of demonstrators across Indiana joined national protests against police violence. Most of the protesters were largely peaceful. Police clashed with crowds in response to thrown objects and vandalism by firing tear gas, pepper spray pellets and flares.

Groups of protestors demonstrated peacefully in Indianapolis thoughout the day Monday but streets are ordered clear by 8 pm. Officials and police say the move aims to prevent more violence.
